Sleeping on 3,500 m altitude
The Chakana Mountain Lodge offers perfect conditions to adjust to high altitude. Because of the location at 3,500 m altitude the difference in temperature between day and night might be considerable. Chakana offers therefore feather beds, hot water, a wooden stove in the public area and heaters in every room. Small reading corners, the so-called "rincones", invite every tourist’s soul to relax while getting informed about the diversity of the Andean world and a whole range of discovery tours.
Cabañas and backpackers
The Mountain Lodge offers 6 cabins and a backpacker area. The rooms are beautifully furnished and large windows open a unique view on the green mountains of Putre. In the midst of a unique mountain scenery each day’s reward is the breathtaking sunset.
Bird and plant life
Chakana is situated slightly below the center of Putre village (approx. 10 walking mins) and offers a great variety of vegetation. In the countless bushes and shrubs around a whole world of birds has found its ideal home such as the colibri. Typical of this area of the Andes is also the variety of cactus and succulents which can be found along the hiking paths which generate in Chakana in cover the whole area around.
